GREEN STREET - SOCIAL DISTANCING MEASURES

THE NEWHAM (GREEN STREET) (SOCIAL DISTANCING MEASURES) (NO.2) EXPERIMENTAL TRAFFIC ORDER 2020

1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the London Borough of Newham on 14 September 2020 made the above-mentioned Order under Section 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended.

2. The general effect of the Order will be to suspend existing restrictions for the duration of the experimental order and replace them with the restrictions detailed below:

(1) Community disabled persons’ parking place operating ‘at any time’ with a 3 hours maximum stay and no return within 2 hours in Green Street, the east side, from the common boundary of Nos. 299 and 303 Green Street southward for a distance of 6.6 metres; and

(2) Loading only bay operating from Monday to Saturday from 7am to 7pm with 1 hour maximum stay and no return within 2 hours in Green Street, the east side, between a point 6 metres south of the common boundary of Nos. 299 and 303 Green Street and a point 1.4 metres north of the common boundary of Nos. 309 and 311 Green Street.

3. The Order, which will come into force on 28 September 2020, and other documents giving more detailed particulars of the Order are available for inspection during normal office hours on Monday to Friday inclusive at Newham Dockside, 1000 Dockside Road E16 2QU, by telephoning 020 3373 6415 or by emailing traffic.orders@newham.gov.uk until such time as the Order ceases to have effect.

4. If any person wishes to question the validity of the Order or of any of its provisions on the grounds that it or they are not within the powers conferred by the Act, or that any requirement of the Act or of any instrument made under the Act has not been complied with, that person may, within six weeks from the date on which the Order is made, apply for the purpose to the High Court.

5. If the provisions of the Order continue in force for a period of not less than six months, the Council will be considering in due course whether the provisions of the experimental Order should be continued in force indefinitely by means of an Order or Orders under Section 6 of the said Act of 1984.

6. Within a period of six months:–

(a) beginning with the day on which the experimental Orderscame into force; or

(b) if that Order is varied by another Order or modified pursuant to Section 10(2) of the 1984 Act, beginning with the day on which the variation or modification or the latest variation or modification came into force

any person may object to the making of Orders for the purpose of such indefinite continuation.

7. All objections and other representations relating to the continuation of the Order must be made in writing. All objections must specify the grounds on which they are made. They should be sent to the Director, Highways and Sustainable Transport, London Borough of Newham, 3rd Floor West, Newham Dockside, 1000 Dockside Road, London E16 2QU or by email, quoting the Order title, to: traffic.orders@newham.gov.uk

8. Under the requirements of current access to information legislation, any letter or e-mail sent to the Council in response to this Notice may be subject to publication or disclosure, or both, including communication to other persons affected.
