CYCLEWAY C43 – HYDE PARK TO MARYLEBONE (SECTION A)
1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Westminster City Council proposes to make the following Orders under sections 6, 45, 46, 49 and 124 of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended:
• The City of Westminster (Car Club Parking Places) (No. *) Order 202*;
• The City of Westminster (Free Parking Places) (Disabled Permit Parking Places) (Amendment No. *) Order 202*;
• The City of Westminster (Parking Places) (F Zone) (Amendment No. *) Order 202*;
• The City of Westminster (Prescribed Routes) (No. *) Traffic Order 202*; and
• The City of Westminster (Waiting and Loading Restriction) (Amendment No. *) Order 202*.
2. The general effect of the Orders, to facilitate the introduction to the Hyde Park to Marylebone Cycleway (C43), would be to revise existing parking places and waiting and loading restrictions along the route as set out in the Schedule to this Notice.
3. The Orders would also:
(a) introduce a prohibition of motor vehicles in Stanhope Place, between Bayswater Road and No. 1 Stanhope Place (signed as a Pedestrian and Cycle Zone); and;
(b) introduce mandatory contra-flow cycle lanes in:
(i) Connaught Square (north-eastern arm); and
(ii) Portsea Place.
4. Various additional measures would be introduced along the route including junction improvements and mandatory with-flow cycle lanes in Kendal Street.
5. FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Westminster City Council, in accordance with the provisions of section 23 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, intends to:
(a) widen the “zebra” pedestrian crossing outside No. 8 Connaught Street by 2.5 metres; and
(b) shorten the zig-zag markings on the south-east side of Connaught Street:
(i) outside No. 9, by 1.4 metres; and
(ii) opposite Nos. 19 and 20, by 4.5 metres (including the centre-of-road marking).
6. The proposed Orders and other documents giving more detailed particulars of the Orders are available for inspection until six weeks have elapsed from the date on which either the Orders are made or the Council decides not to make the Orders at http://westminstertransportationservices.co.uk/notices and, in person by appointment only, at Westminster City Hall 64 Victoria Street, London, SW1E 6QP, between 9.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m. on Mondays to Fridays (except bank / public holidays). All objections must specify the grounds on which they are made.
