HIGHWAYS ACT 1980 – SECTION 90A

LEXHAM GARDENS

ROAD HUMPS (REFERENCE: NCIL4 AB17)

1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea (hereinafter referred to as “the Council”) proposes, under Section 90A of the Highways Act 1980, to construct the type of road humps know as “sinusoidal road humps” at the following locations in Lexham Gardens (measurements are given from the centre line of the road hump).

(i) 2 metres (7ft) west of the common boundary of No. 55 Lexham Gardens and No. 12 Marloes Road;

(ii) 3 metres (10ft) east of the common boundary of Nos. 43 and 45 to 53 Lexham Gardens;

(iii) 2 metres (7ft) east of the common boundary of Nos. 31 and 33 Lexham Gardens;

(iv) 2 metres (7ft) northeast of the common boundary of Nos. 15 and 17 Lexham Gardens;

(v) 2 metres (7ft) northeast of the common boundary of Nos. 3 and 5 to 7 Lexham Gardens.

[Note: Each “sinusoidal road hump” would be an elevated section of carriageway with a round top, 75mm millimetres higher at its highest point than the surrounding carriageway, approximately 9 metres wide and approximately 3.7 metres in length].

2. The road humps are being introduced as part of a scheme intended to reduce traffic speeds on the affected roads.

Further information, including a copy of plans, may be obtained via email by contacting trafficorders@rbkc.gov.uk or by contacting Allan Evans, Senior Traffic Engineer, by telephone on 07816 991 973 quoting reference “Road Humps on Lexham Gardens” and can be inspected at Council Offices, 37 Pembroke Road, London, W8 6PW during normal office hours on Mondays to Fridays inclusive.

4. Anyone wishing to support, object or to make any other representation with regards to the measures set out above, should send a statement in writing to that effect, and in the case of an objection, stating the grounds thereof, to the Council by email to: trafficorders@rbkc.gov.uk or by post to: Transport Policy, Room 1.02, Council Offices, The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, 37 Pembroke Road, London, W8 6PW, quoting reference “Road Humps on Lexham Gardens (NCIL4 AB17)” by 28th May 2025.

5. Under the Local Government (Access to Information) Act 1985, any letter you write to the Council in response to this Notice may be made available to the press and to the public, who would be entitled to take copies of it if they so wished.
