LONDON BOROUGH OF SOUTHWARK
DEAN’S BUILDINGS NEW ‘ZEBRA’ PEDESTRIAN CROSSING
THE LONDON BOROUGH OF SOUTHWARK (WAITING RESTRICTIONS) (DEAN’S BUILDINGS) ORDER 202*
1. Southwark Council hereby GIVES NOTICE that it proposes to make the above Order under sections 6 and 124 of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended.
2. The effects of the Order, would be in DEAN’S BUILDINGS on both sides from a point 2.5 metres south-west of the south-western kerb-line of Flint Street and a point 5.5 metres south-west of the common boundary of Nos. 25 and 27 Dean’s Buildings (outside English Martyrs’ Roman Catholic Primary School & Nursery) and for the purpose of accommodating the new raised ‘zebra’ pedestrian crossing, to remove a total of 65 metres (north-west side 33.5 metres and south-east side 31.5 metres) of existing ‘at any time’ waiting restrictions (double yellow lines). Notes: (1) ‘at any time’ means at all hours on every day of the week. (2) All measurements are approximate.
3. Southwark Council hereby GIVES FURTHER NOTICE that:-
(a) under section 23 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, approval for the provision of a new raised ‘zebra’ pedestrian crossing in DEAN’S BUILDINGS the centre of which would be located at a point 10 metres north-east of the common boundary of Nos. 25 and 27 Dean’s Buildings. ‘Zig-zag’ markings, on which vehicles would be prohibited from stopping at all times, would be laid on the carriageway on both sides of the road for a distance of approximately 17 metres north-eastward of the crossing and for a distance of approximately 13 metres south-westward of the crossing;
(b) under sections 90A to 90I of the Highways Act 1980 and in accordance with the provisions of the Highways (Traffic calming) Regulations 1999, propose to construct a speed table of flat-top construction having a maximum height level with the surrounding kerb and covering the entire width of the carriageway in DEAN’S BUILDINGS (at the site of the new raised ‘zebra’ pedestrian crossing mentioned in item 3a above) extending from a point 5 metres north-east of the common boundary of Nos. 25 and 27 Dean’s Buildings north-eastward for a distance of 9 metres (the measurement includes the ramps and any existing crossing features at the exact location above will be removed to accommodate); and
(c) remove a total of 63 metres of existing ‘School Keep Clear’ markings (31.5 metres per side) in DEAN’S BUILDINGS outside English Martyrs’ Roman Catholic Primary School & Nursery.

6.
