THE GLA ROAD (LONDON BOROUGH OF CAMDEN) (BUS PRIORITY) CONSOLIDATION ORDER 2009 A501 GLA ROAD (PENTONVILLE ROAD) VARIATION ORDER 2025
1. Transport for London hereby gives notice that on 3rd September 2025 it made the above named Orders, under section 6 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The Orders will come into force on 12th September 2025.
2. The roads which would be affected by the Orders are the A501 GLA Road Pentonville Road and GLA Side Roads King’s Cross Road, Northdown Street and Killick Street.in the London Boroughs of Camden and Islington.
3. The general nature and effects of the Orders will be:
(1) Remove the Loading Unloading and Disabled persons’ vehicle bay on the western side of Northdown Street side of Nos.236-240 Pentonville Road replacing it with double red lines (no stopping at any time);
(2) Extend the Loading and Unloading bay outside Nos.193-197 King’s Cross by 2.5 metres at its north-western end, operating No Stopping Mon-Sat 8am-7pm except loading max 20 minutes. Double red lines will amended to reflect the change;
(3) Convert the single red lines(No Stopping Mon-Sat 7am-7pm) into double red lines(No Stopping At Any Time) on the northern kerbline of Pentonville Road between its junction with Killick Street and adjacent to No.200 Pentonville Road;
(4) Convert the single red lines(No Stopping Mon-Sat 7am-7pm) into double red lines(No Stopping At Any Time) on the southern kerbline of Pentonville Road between its junction with Lorenzo Street and adjacent to No.223 to 231 Pentonville Road;
(5) Prohibit any vehicle except pedal cycles to turn right into Pentonville Road from Killick Street;
(6) Prohibit any vehicle to enter Northdown Street at its junction with Pentonville Road; (
7) Prescribe all vehicles except local buses and pedal cycles travelling in a westerly direction on A501 Pentonville Road to turn right upon reaching its junction with Killick Street;
(8) Introduce a new eastbound bus lane on the A501 Pentonville Road between its junction with Northdown Street and opposite Nos.241-243 Pentonville Road, operating Mon-Sun At Any Time permitting buses, dial a ride buses, taxis and pedal cyclists;
(9) Remove the westbound bus lane between No.251 and No.259 Pentonville Road;
(10) Extend the Bus Only Route on the south side of A501 Pentonville Road between its junctions with King’s Cross Bridge and Northdown Street by 90 metres at its eastern end starting outside No.237 Pentonville Road, operating At Any Time permitting Local buses and pedal cyclists;
(11) Prohibit any vehicle to turn right into Pentonville Road from Northdown Street.
4. A copy of the Order, a map indicating the location and effect of the Order and copies of any Order revoked, suspended or varied by the Order can be inspected by visiting our website at https://haveyoursay.tfl.gov.uk/tro and selecting the relevant borough and reference the Traffic Order relates to or by appointment during normal office hours at our office at the address below. Please note due to hybrid working access to post is restricted and requests for documents may be delayed.
5. Any person wishing to question the validity of the Order or of any of its provisions on the grounds that they are not within the relevant powers conferred by the Act or that any requirement of the Act has not been complied with, that person may, within six weeks from the date on which the Order is made, make application for the purpose to the High Court.
