UNIVERSITIES OF OXFORD AND CAMBRIDGE ACT 1923

Eight statutes made by the Governing Body of the University of Oxford on the 7th July 2025 amending the existing Statutes of the University have been submitted for the approval of His Majesty in Council, and notice of this having been submitted are published in accordance with the provisions of the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge Act 1923. Under the provisions of the Act any petition must be received by the Privy Council Office by email to enquiries@pco.gov.uk within eight weeks (exclusive of any University vacation).

The purpose of the proposed amendments are to confirm new management arrangements of the Prendergast Fund; to update the Schedule to the Statutes of the Associate Professor of Transport Studies, the Jesus Professor of Celtic Endowment Fund, the Goodger and Schorstein Fund, and Scratcherd Scholarships, following the accession of King Charles III; to amend the schedule to the statues of the Samir Shamma Associate to reflect the change in name from the Faculty of Oriental Studies to the Faculty of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies; to correct previously undiscovered errors in cross-referencing statutes; and to change the legislation governing the filling of ‘casual vacancies’.
