1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the London Borough of Brent on 29th September 2024 made the above-mentioned Order under sections 9 and 10 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by section 8 of and Part 1 of Schedule 5 to the Local Government Act 1985, the Parking Acts of 1986 and 1989 and the Traffic Management Act 2004.

2. The general effect of the Order will be to experimentally expand the existing Mount Stewart Infant and Junior School Street (SZ 24) Pedestrian and Cycle Zone, which currently only includes Mount Stewart Avenue, between the eastern kerb-line of Abercorn Gardens and the western kerb-line of Manning Gardens, to further prohibit any vehicle to enter between 8.15 a.m. to 9.15 a.m. and 2.30 p.m. to 4.00 p.m. on Mondays to Fridays inclusive (school term time only) in the entire lengths of Abercorn Gardens, Bouverie Gardens, Carlisle Gardens, Manning Gardens, Mount Stewart Avenue, Sheridan Gardens and Trevelyan Crescent.

A copy of the Order, which will come into force on 9th October 2025 and may remain in force for up to 18 months, of maps of the relevant areas and of the relevant Order of 2025 (and of any Order which has amended that Order) can be inspected during normal office hours on Mondays to Fridays inclusive until the Order ceases to have effect, at Brent Customer Services, Brent Civic Centre, Engineers Way, Wembley, Middlesex, HA9 0FJ.

4. Any person desiring to question the validity of the Order or of any provision contained therein on the grounds that it is not within the relevant powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or that any of the relevant requirements thereof or of any relevant regulations made thereunder has not been complied with in relation to the Order may, within six weeks of the date on which the Order is made, make an application for the purpose to the High Court.

5. Where it appears necessary for certain purposes, the Council's Head of Healthy Streets and Parking or any person authorised in that behalf by him may modify or suspend the order or any of its provisions, while the Order is in force.

6. The Council of the London Borough of Brent will consider in due course whether the provisions of the experimental Order should be continued in force indefinitely by means of an Order made under sections 6 and 124 of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. Any person may object to the making of the permanent Order for the purpose of such indefinite continuation, within a period of six months beginning with the date on which the experimental Order comes into force or, if the Order is varied by other Orders or modified pursuant to section 10(2) of the 1984 Act, beginning with the date on which the variation or modification or the latest variation or modification comes into force. Any such objection must be made in writing and must state the grounds on which it is made and be sent to Head of Healthy Streets and Parking, Healthy Streets and Parking Service, 6th Floor West Wing, Brent Civic Centre, Engineers Way, Wembley, Middlesex, HA9 0FJ or by email to trafficorders@brent.gov.uk, quoting reference TO/30/050/JH.
