The Welsh Ministers have made an Order under section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, which is necessary to undertake works on or near or near the A494 trunk road Queensferry, Flintshire.

The effect of the Order is to temporarily:

i. prohibit vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians on the eastbound carriageway of the length of the A494 described in Schedule 1 to this Notice. The alternative route is also described in the Schedule;

ii. prohibit overtaking on eastbound and westbound carriageways of the length of the A494 described in Schedule 2 and control the movement of traffic through gaps in the central reservation as described in Schedule 3 to this notice;

iii. prohibit vehicles with a width of or exceeding 3.1 metres from proceeding on the lengths of the A494 specified in Schedule 4, except for vehicles authorised by North Wales Police. The alternative route is also described in this Schedule;

iv. impose a 30 mph speed limit on the lengths of the A494 described in Schedule 5.

The alternative routes will be signed with appropriate diversion signs and will vary depending on destination and when a particular length of the A494 described above is temporarily closed to traffic.

Alternative routes will be available via the A494, A55, A56, A41, A5117, A548 A550 and M53, as appropriate.

The Order comes into force on 6 October 2025. The temporary prohibitions and restrictions are expected to operate intermittently until the temporary traffic signs for each period of works are permanently removed. The Welsh Ministers are satisfied that the works will take longer than 18 months.
