THE ELECTRICITY WORKS (ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT) (SCOTLAND) REGULATIONS 2017

Notice is hereby given that Arise AB (company registration number 556274-6726) with its Registered Office at Kristian IV:s väg 3, Box 808, 301 18 Halmstad, Sweden, has applied to the Scottish Ministers for consent under Section 36 of the Electricity Act 1989 to construct and operate a wind farm known as Tormsdale Wind Farm, located approximately 8.5 kilometres south of Halkirk in Caithness, within the Highland Council planning area (National Grid Reference 314000, 949000). The installed capacity of the proposed generating station would be up to 70 MW and comprises of up to 9 turbines with a maximum ground to blade tip height of 149.9 metres alongside a Battery Energy Storage System. An Environmental Impact Assessment (“EIA”) Report has been produced to accompany the application for consent.

Arise AB has also applied for a direction under Section 57(2) of the Town and Country Planning (Scotland) Act 1997 that planning permission for the development be deemed to be granted.

Arise AB has now submitted Techncial Appendix 8a.1, which includes an updated Vegetation Assessment and Peatland condition Assessment to the Scottish Ministers. This submission supplements the documents forming in Further Environmental Information 2 (“FEI2”), previously advertised and consulted upon in July 2025.

A copy of Technical Appendix 8a.1, together with all previously submitted documents discussing Arise AB’s proposals in more detail and presenting an analysis of the environmental implications, are available for public inspection in person, free of charge, during the posted hours at:

On accessing the website, enter the case reference WIN-270-23 in the ‘Search by case reference:’ box to find all documents relating to this case. Technical Appendix 8a.1can be viewed under the appeal documentation tab.

Please note that there may be a delay in the DPEA receiving representations by post.
