The Department of Justice has made a Statutory Rule entitled “The Damages for Bereavement (Variation of Sum) Order (Northern Ireland) 2025" (S.R. 2025 No. 173), which comes into operation on 1st December 2025.

The Rule increases the sum which may be awarded for damages for bereavement in Northern Ireland from £17,200 to £19,700.
