NATIONAL HIGHWAYS LIMITED

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14(1)(A), (4), AND 15(2), AND PARAGRAPH 27(1) OF SCHEDULE 9

THE A47 TRUNK ROAD (SWAFFHAM TO DEREHAM, NORFOLK) (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) NO.2 ORDER 202_

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited(a) intends to make an Order on the A47 Trunk Road in the County of Norfolk to enable third party utility works to install high voltage power connections to Necton Onshore Windfarm, construction and widening of accesses to a national grid substation and general routine maintenance to be carried out in safety.

The works are expected to last until December 2030 continuing on or after 22 December 2025.

The effect of the Order on the A47 would be to –

1. impose, a 40 miles per hour speed restriction for 24 hours daily on the eastbound and westbound carriageways between points 270 metres east of Dunham Road junction, Necton and 700 metres west of Station Road junction, Little Fransham, Dereham.

2. close, between 8pm and 6am, the eastbound and westbound carriageways between Dunham Road, Necton and Station Road, Dereham – diverting traffic at Swaffham via A1065, A134, A11 and A47 to Dereham to continue their journey.

3. prohibit for 24 hours daily, right turn movements from the eastbound carriageway of the A47 into Necton Onshore Substation access road and the proposed Statkraft Greener Grid Park access road, Necton – diverting traffic to continue eastbound to Honingham Roundabout then return via the westbound carriageway to continue their journey.

During the works all lay-bys situated adjacent to the lengths of carriageway described at 2 above would remain closed for 24 hours daily, when required.

The temporary mandatory speed limit (which would not apply to emergency service or special forces vehicles) and closures (which would not apply to emergency service, traffic officer, winter maintenance or works vehicles) would be clearly indicated by traffic signs.

The Order would come into force on 22 December 2025 and may continue in force until the works detailed above have been completed.
