NOTICE OF FORFEITURE OF CASH WITHOUT COURT ORDERPROCEEDS OF CRIME ACT 2002, PART 5, CHAPTER 3, SECTION 297A

IN ACCORDANCE WITH STATUTORY INSTRUMENT 2015 NO. 857

On Monday 04 August 2025 a total of £8,000.00 in unattended cash was seized by Gwent Police officers from the following location:

- Within a small tool container which appeared to have been discarded in the middle of the road, at or before 08:55 hrs on the B4591 in Abercarn, Gwent, NP11 5GJ.

On Tuesday 25 November 2025, Detective Inspector Ashley PRICE, a senior officer within the meaning of s297A(6) of the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 (POCA) authorised a Notice of Forfeiture of Cash Without Court Order on being satisfied that the above cash is (a) recoverable property or (b) intended by any person for use in unlawful conduct (s297A(2) POCA).

Any person may object to the proposed forfeiture within 30 days, starting the day after this notice is given in the London Gazette. Any objection must be made in writing to: Financial Investigator Jon SKILLETT, Financial Investigation Unit, Gwent Police Headquarters, Llantarnam Park, CWMBRAN, NP44 3FW.

An objection is made when it is received at the address. If no objection is received within the period of objecting, and the notice has not lapsed, the cash is forfeited unless an application is made to set aside forfeiture.

An application to set aside forfeiture, S.297E, may be made by a person aggrieved by the forfeiture, to a Magistrates’ Court, before the end of the period of 30 days, starting with the day on which the period for objecting ended. The Court may extend the period in exceptional circumstances.
