ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
THE GLA ROADS AND GLA SIDE ROADS (SOUTHWARK) RED ROUTE CONSOLIDATION TRAFFIC ORDER 2007 VARIOUS ROADS (E-SCOOTER AND CYCLE BAYS) VARIATION ORDER 2026
1. Transport for London, hereby gives notice that it intends to make the above named Order under section 6 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
2. The general nature and effect of the Order will be to:
(1) introduce an at any time hireable e-scooter and cycle only bay at the back of the north-eastern footway of the A2 Great Dover Street between the extended north-western building line of Pallant House, Tabard Street and a point 9 9 metres south-eastwards, the bay will be 2 metres wide;
(2) introduce an at any time hireable e-scooter and cycle only bay on a section of the western footway of the A201 Blackfriars Road separating the segregated bi-directional cycle track from the carriage outside No. 40 Blackfriars Road. The bay will be 5.5 metres long and 1.5 metres wide and 0.5 of a metre from the edge of the carriageway;
(3) introduce an at any time hireable e-scooter and cycle only bay on a section of the western footway of the A201 Blackfriars Road separating the segregated bi-directional cycle track from the carriage outside No. 100 Blackfriars Road. The bay will be 5.5 metres long and 1.5 metres wide and 0.5 of a metre from the edge of the carriageway;
(4) relocate the Monday to Saturday 7 am to 7 pm loading, unloading 20 max and disabled persons’ vehicles 3 hours bay on the unnamed service Road fronting Nos. 108 to 114 Tower Bridge Road, outside Nos. 104 to 108 Tower Bridge Road 1.25 metres southwards. The adjacent Double Red Lines (No Stopping at Any Time) restriction will be altered to reflect the change;
(5) replace the 6 metre long Monday to Saturday 7 am to 7 pm 20 minute parking and disabled persons’ vehicles bay on the unnamed service Road fronting Nos. 108 to 114 Tower Bridge Road, outside Nos. 104 to 108 and 110 Tower Bridge Road with a 5.5 metre long at any time hireable e-scooter and cycle only bay. The adjacent Double Red Lines (No Stopping at Any Time) restriction will be altered to reflect the change;
(6) shorten the Mon to Sat Monday to Saturday 7 am to 7 pm loading, unloading 20 max and disabled persons’ vehicles 3 hours bay outside Nos. 76 to 80 Southwark Street by 11 metres at its eastern end to accommodate at any time hireable e-scooter and cycle only bay and a 1 metre traffic island with bollard at western end of the bay. The adjacent Double Red Lines (No Stopping at Any Time) restriction will be altered to reflect the changes.
3. The roads which would be affected by the Order are the A2 Great Dover Street, A201 Blackfriars Road, A100 Tower Bridge Road and A3200 Southwark Street.
4. A copy of the Order, a statement of Transport for London’s reasons for the proposals, a map indicating the location and effect of the Order and copies of any Order revoked, suspended or varied by the Order can be inspected by visiting our website at https://haveyoursay.tfl.gov.uk/tro and selecting the relevant borough and reference the Traffic Order relates to or by appointment during normal office hours at our office at the address below. 5. All objections and other representations to the proposed Order must be made in writing and must specify the grounds on which they are made. Objections and representations must be sent to Transport for London, Streets Traffic Order Team, Palestra, 197 Blackfriars Road, London, SE1 8NJ or by emailing trafficordersection@tfl.gov.uk quoting reference SNOREGULATION/STOT/JW/TRO/GLA/2026/0015, to arrive before 5th January 2026. Please note due to hybrid working access to post is restricted and requests for documents and confirmation of your objections or representations may be delayed. Objections and other representations may be communicated to other persons who may be affected.
