Notice is hereby given that on 4 February 2026 Rochdale Borough Council, in pursuance of its powers under Section 69 of the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990, designated the Syke Conservation Area [as shown on the attached plan].

1. The Syke Conservation Area has been designated because it is an area of special architectural or historic interest, the character or appearance of which it is desirable to preserve or enhance.

The designation introduces special controls over development within the area, including:

• Restriction of certain permitted development rights under the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) (England) Order 2015.

• Anyone wishing to carry out works to trees will need to notify the Local Authority at least six weeks in advance of starting works in accordance with Section 211 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990.

• The Local Authority will pay special attention to the desirability of preserving or enhancing the character or appearance of the area in all planning decisions in accordance with Section 72 of the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990.

The Syke Conservation Area covers the area outlined in red on the attached plan and includes the following properties:

• 190 to 194,196,198 Dewhirst Road, OL12 9TW

• 202 Dewhirst Road, OL12 9TW

• 1 to 8 Poot Hall, Dewhirst Road, OL12 0AS

• Syke Farm, Ringlows Lane, Rochdale, OL12 9TH

• 2, 4, 6-8, 10, 12, 14 Syke Lane, OL12 9TS

• Quarry Dell, Syke Lane, Rochdale, OL12 9TS

• 94, 98, 100 to 109 Syke Road

• Cross Lees Farm, 116 Syke Road, Rochdale, OL12 9TE

• 141 to 154 Syke Road, Rochdale, OL12 9TE

• Hazel Grove Farm, 180 Syke Road, Rochdale, OL12 9TF

• 205 and 206 Syke Road Rochdale, OL12 9TF

• Syke Road Methodist Church, Syke Road, Rochdale, OL12 9TF
