CONSOLIDATION OF EXISTING ORDERS PROVIDING MOVING TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS, AND MIGRATION TO A ‘MAP-BASED’ SCHEDULE FORMAT

THE CAMDEN (MOVING TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS) CONSOLIDATION ORDER 2026

1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the London Borough of Camden on 11 June 2026 have made the above Order under sections 6, 84 and 124 of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended.

2. The general nature and effect of the Order will be:-

(a) to consolidate the provisions of all existing permanent Orders currently having effect in providing moving traffic prohibitions and restrictions, cycle lanes and routes for pedal cycles only, bus lanes and bus-only routes and speed limits applicable to road traffic in the London Borough of Camden;

(b) to formalise such other moving traffic prohibitions and restrictions, cycle lanes and routes for pedal cycles only, bus lanes and bus-only routes and speed limits as are currently indicated by traffic sign or otherwise as being applicable to road traffic in the London Borough of Camden;

(c) to update the applicable exceptions and exemptions to those moving traffic prohibitions and restrictions, cycle lanes and routes for pedal cycles only, bus lanes and bus-only routes and speed limits so as to reflect current signage legislation and the Council’s current moving traffic enforcement policy; and

(d) to provide for the use of a ‘map-based’ schedule, to be read in conjunction with the consolidated Order, describing the location and type of the moving traffic prohibitions and restrictions, cycle lanes and routes for pedal cycles only, bus lanes and bus-only routes and speed limits, the hours of operation of those moving traffic prohibitions and restrictions, cycle lanes and routes for pedal cycles only, bus lanes and bus-only routes, where applicable, and of any signed exceptions having effect in relation to those moving traffic prohibitions and restrictions, cycle lanes and routes for pedal cycles only, bus lanes and bus-only routes.

Note: There will be no changes made to current moving traffic restrictions as indicated on-street as a result of the making of the Order.

3. Any outstanding proposed Orders, or trial schemes enacted through ongoing Experimental Traffic Orders, will continue to progress through to the appropriate evaluation or completion of each proposal or scheme.

4. A copy of the made Order, which will come into force on 12 June 2026, and of other documents relating to the Order, may be obtained by contacting traffic.orders@camden.gov.uk or may be inspected in person by prior appointment at 5 Pancras Square, London N1C 4AG, during normal office hours. The ‘map-based’ schedule may be viewed online at https://camden.traffweb.app/

5. Any person desiring to question the validity of the Order or of any provision contained therein on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or that any of the relevant requirements thereof or of any relevant regulations made thereunder has not been complied with may, within 6 weeks of the date on which the Order was made, make application for the purpose to the High Court.
