THE A34 TRUNK ROAD (PEAR TREE TO WENDLEBURY) CLEARWAY ORDER 2026
National Highways Limited(a) gives notice that they propose to make an Order under powers conferred by Sections 1(1), 2(1) and (2)(c) and 4(1) of, and Paragraph 27(1) of Schedule 9 to, the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 on the A34 Trunk Road in the District of Cherwell in the County of Oxfordshire. T
he effect of the Regulation would be to impose a ban on stopping, waiting, and parking on: -
1. a) the northbound carriageway of the A34 between its divergence from the road leading to the roundabout at Pear Tree Interchange (A44) and its junction with the roundabout at Wendlebury Interchange (M40 Junction 9/A41), a distance of approximately 10620 metres measured along the length of the road; and
b) the southbound carriageway of the A34 between its junction with the roundabout at Wendlebury Interchange (M40 Junction 9/A41), and its merge with the road leading from the roundabout at Pear Tree Interchange (A44), a distance of approximately 10620 metres measured along the length of the road;
2. The entire circulatory carriageway of the roundabout at Wendlebury Interchange (M40 Junction 9/A41).
3. all of the slip and link roads leading to and from the lengths of road described in 1. above, at Pear Tree Interchange (A44), Kidlington Junction, Islip Interchange (B4027), and at Weston on the Green Interchange (B430).
4. the following additional connecting road:- “the business distribution road” denoting the road, serving premises, being separate and adjacent to the southbound carriageway of the A34, between points approximately 995 and 1420 metres south-west of the B430 overbridge.
5. any central reservation, verge, and footway adjacent to any of the above.
This would replace and revoke a previous permanent order as follows:
The A34 Trunk Road (Peartree Hill to Wendlebury) (24 Hours Clearway) Order 1993 (b),
and temporary Order The A34 Trunk Road (Weston-on-the-Green) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic - Clearway) Order 2025 (c).
A copy of the draft Order, those being revoked, a plan illustrating the proposals and a statement explaining why National Highways Limited proposes to make the Order may be inspected at: -

Any person desiring to object or make representations to National Highways Limited’s proposal, should send, not later than 9th July 2026, a written statement of his or her representation or objection and of the grounds thereof to the person and address at the bottom of this notice, quoting the reference NH/SE/2026/A34/CLEARWAY.
